For much of the year the weather is hot (not too hot) and is very dry. When the prevailing winds are from the west, over land the air is dry, but when the wind direction switches to an easterly direction, it picks up moisture over the ocean and it becomes hot and damp.
In the summer months there is a greater tendency for higher levels of humidity. The key indicator of high humidity is that when leaving a cool air-conditioned building that spectacles fog up for around 45 seconds before they warm and the condensation evaporates… it’s been like that today.
